Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Luis Ribeiro has shown the tendency
and fascination for percussions since his tender childhood by playing
with forks, spoons and saucepans.
At the age of 14 he was one of the youngest rhythmic players on the percussion
ensemble of the Vai-Vai and later Camisa Verde e Branco Samba-School.
On the early 90s Luis came to Europe and participated of the 2nd
Jazz Festival New York - Brazil - Bern with Teddy Bärlocher and Gil
Goldstein.
Later he moves to Austria and studied drum set at the University for Music
and Arts in Vienna.
Ribeiro worked with big names from the local and also international music
scene like Gloria Gaynor, Ricky Martin, Jaroslaw Zawadski featuring Bob
Berg, Erick Marienthal, Bill Evans, Frank Gambale und Dean Brown; also
with Byron Stingly, DJ Tom Novy, The Vienna Art Orchestra & Ray Anderson,
Dancing Stars I & II, Sandra Pires, Count Basic, Georg Danzer und
Timna Brauer.
Concerts throught Europe, South America and Africa: Stadthalle, Wiener
Musikverein, Konzerthaus and Brucknerhaus in Austria; Mexico, Spain, Portugal,
Turkey, Israel, Luxembourg, Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Brazil, Senegal,
Gambia, Tanzania, Germany, Swiss, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Belgrade,
Prague, etc.
